In Palmdale, Lancaster, and surrounding Antelope Valley areas, obesity disproportionately affects low-income residents.

Availability of healthy food is a primary issue. When someone with limited financial means has to choose between a $1 hamburger and a $10 salad, it isn't as much a choice as a necessity to eat whatever they can afford.
